TreeCulture climbers have set up thousands of nesting boxes over the years for both commercial and residential projects that require them as part of their DA approvals and or environmental considerations, to reduce the overall environmental impacts to certain sites where removal of habitat trees has had to occur. Setting up nesting boxes is a way to offset the habitat homes and or improve the nesting capacity of many terrestrial vertebrate species reliant on tree hollows or nests.

Tree culture also has the ability to monitor and report on the usefulness or nesting capacity of the nest box installations. Tree culture has been employed to set up many stealth camera options in trees for research and or conservation monitoring projects, which have been very successful in the past.

At TreeCulture, when we work on mature trees to maintain and/or improve the environmental habitat considerations with “Environmental pruning” techniques, we can promote hollows and certain nesting sites for the vertebrates in your area. In the case that we have to remove hollows from trees for hazardous reasons, we collect all hollows for future nesting sites locally to that tree. We also have the capacity to create “Perch Trees” for birds with your dead trees, that pose minimal risk for the asset or human harm.

We have the knowledge to carve out nesting boxes into dead trees and have also recently erected large, dead trees with nesting platforms for nesting birds like the Jabiru in the Byron region. This has proven to be excitingly effective and rewarding to re-introduce them to the area after so many years!
